Rutting stags, local flavours and the road on the Malaucène side
At the end of September, the Ventoux turns to autumn. The Ventoux Saveurs festival continues in the villages until 25 October. On Sunday 4 October, the summit road is closed all day on the Malaucène side: go up via Bédoin. And from 4 to 11 October, guided evening outings leave from the Chalet Reynard to listen to the rutting stags.

The summit road
Summit road open
Open since 17 April on the Bédoin and Sault sides, and since 13 May on the Malaucène side. Winter closure expected mid-November, on the date set by official order.

Weather and wind at the summit
On average it is 13°C colder at the summit than at the bottom, and the wind there exceeds 90 km/h around 240 days a year. Check today's readings before you set off.

There is no public webcam at the summit, but two live images help you judge the weather and snow.

Free: South car park “Tempête” (on the right just before the Col des Tempêtes, then a 10-minute walk), South car park along the D974, North car park “Radôme”. The viewing area is pedestrianised. In summer, avoid 11am – 4pm.

From 15 June to 15 September, access to the forests may be restricted or prohibited depending on the fire risk. The map for the following day is published every evening by the préfecture. It applies to footpaths, not roads.
